AI Tutorial

Traditional RAG has served us well, but it's becoming outdated for complex use cases. While vanilla RAG can retrieve and generate responses, agentic RAG adds a layer of intelligence and adaptability that transforms how we build AI applications. Also, most RAG implementations are still black boxes - you ask a question, get an answer, but have no idea how the system arrived at that conclusion.

In this tutorial, we'll build a multi-agent RAG system with transparent reasoning using Claude 4 Sonnet and OpenAI. You'll create a system where you can literally watch the AI agent think through problems, search for information, analyze results, and formulate answers - all in real-time.

We share hands-on tutorials like this every week, designed to help you stay ahead in the world of AI. If you're serious about leveling up your AI skills and staying ahead of the curve, subscribe now and be the first to access our latest tutorials.

Latest Developments

Just when you thought the AI reasoning wars couldn't get more interesting, Mistral AI crashes with its debut release, Magistral. The launch includes Magistral Small (24B parameters, open-weight model) and Magistral Medium for enterprises (the size hasn’t been disclosed).

This isn't your typical "let me help you with everything" AI model.

Rather than building a general-purpose reasoning model, Mistral designed Magistral specifically for professional applications - legal work, financial forecasting, software development, and business strategy. The idea is deeper expertise in specialized areas instead of broad but shallow capabilities.

Key Highlights:

  1. Domain-specialized - Built specifically for professional use cases like legal research, financial forecasting, and software development rather than general-purpose thinking, delivering deeper expertise in specialized fields.

  2. Multilingual - Maintains high-fidelity reasoning across English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Arabic, Russian, and Simplified Chinese without losing logical consistency across languages.

  3. Speed-optimized - When you use Flash Answers in Le Chat with Mistral Medium, the model delivers up to 10x faster token throughput than competitors like OpenAI o3, while maintaining reasoning quality.

  4. Performance - The team hasn’t released benchmark performance for Magistral Small. However, Mistral Medium performs almost on par with DeepSeek R1 and OpenAI o1 models on benchmarks like AIME 2024 and LiveCode bench.

  5. Open weight model - Magistral Small is an open-weight model, and is available for self-deployment under the Apache 2.0 license. You can download it from Hugging Face.

Let’s be honest — Apple WWDC 2025 was a complete snoozefest. It was a masterclass at making big announcements about basically nothing. However, Apple actually released something super interesting for developers that got buried in developer documentation rather than the keynote stage.

They released the Foundation Models framework that gives you direct access to Apple Intelligence's on-device LLM with just 3 lines of Swift code, enabling offline AI features with guided generation and tool calling capabilities.

The company also released an open-source Docker container alternative optimized for Apple Silicon. This containerization framework runs Linux containers as optimized virtual machines directly on Mac and provides secure isolation between container images.

Key Highlights:

  1. Swift-First - Build intelligent apps using Apple's on-device LLM with native Swift integration, supporting tasks from summarization to creative content generation.

  2. Custom Tool Integration - Extend the foundation model's capabilities by creating tools that can search databases, call APIs, or interact with your app's services.

  3. Containers - Create and run Linux containers directly on Mac using a Docker alternative written in Swift and optimized specifically for Apple silicon performance.

  4. OCI Compatibility - Pull and push container images from standard registries while maintaining full compatibility with existing container ecosystems and deployment workflows.

Building an AI agent and suddenly realizing it needs to talk to Slack, Google Sheets, Stripe, and 17 other services? And each one wants a different OAuth dance, API key ritual, or token refresh ceremony? Yeah, that problem just got solved.

Pipedream Connect gives one SDK that connects your AI agents to 2,700+ APIs and MCP servers with built-in authentication management and 10,000+ pre-built triggers and actions.

Instead of wrestling with OAuth flows and API integrations for each service, you get managed authentication, ready-to-use React components, and framework-agnostic APIs that work with your existing tech stack. You have code-level control over how these integrations work in your app.

Key Highlights:

  1. One SDK for 1000s of integrations - Access 2,700+ APIs through a single interface with managed authentication that eliminates the need to handle OAuth flows, API keys, and token refresh mechanisms manually.

  2. Pre-built components - Choose from 10,000+ triggers and actions maintained by Pipedream's community, from simple database queries to complex multi-step workflows that your users can configure directly.

  3. MCP servers - Pipedream offers dedicated MCP servers for all of the 2,700+ integrated apps. These enable MCP clients like Claude and AI agents to access and interact with thousands of tools and perform real-world tasks using your accounts.

  4. Production-ready - Deploy triggers and actions with built-in error handling, retry mechanisms, and monitoring tools, plus comprehensive logging and real-time event tracking for troubleshooting.

Quick Bites

This AI startup just made the boldest guarantee: save your company $5 million or they'll donate $5k to charity. Meet Clark, an agentic platform that builds production-ready internal enterprise applications from simple prompts.

Unlike other vibe coding tools that can just do basic prototypes, Clark handles the full enterprise stack - your design systems, API integrations, security policies, SSO permissions, and audit logging requirements. The multi-agent system works like having a whole internal tools team, with specialized AI agents for design, engineering, IT admin, security, and QA all collaborating on your app.

Exa Research has launched its new agentic search endpoint that doesn't stop until it finds what you need, then returns insights as structured outputs. It scored 94.9% on SimpleQA - the highest score among research APIs. The API is smart about using cheaper models for easy work and smarter models when needed. You can choose between two models: the economical exa-research or the quality-focused exa-research-pro, both priced to keep your research bills low.

OpenAI rolls out o3-pro to all Pro users in ChatGPT and the API, replacing o1-pro with their most capable reasoning model yet. The model maintains o3's tool access including web search, file analysis, and Python execution, though responses take longer due to the enhanced reasoning process.

  • Expert evaluators consistently preferred o3-pro over the base o3 model across science, education, programming, and writing tasks.

  • o3-pro costs $20/$80 per 1M tokens in the API — 87% cheaper than o1-pro while using even more compute.

  • Pro and Team users get access immediately, with Enterprise and Edu users following the next week.

OpenAI has also cut o3 API pricing by 80% to $2/$8 per 1M input/output tokens through infrastructure optimizations.

Tools of the Trade

  1. Claude Composer: A wrapper tool that enhances Claude Code that automates permission prompts through configurable rulesets, from full auto-accept "yolo mode" to manual confirmation only. Also provides system notifications to keep you informed of automated decisions.

  2. Onlook: Cursor for designers. Build websites, prototypes, and designs with AI in Next.js and Tailwind. Make edits directly in the browser DOM with a visual editor. Design in real-time with code. Great alternative to Bolt.new, Lovable, V0, Replit Agent, etc.

  3. Kaizen: Integrate browser automation with any website without traditional APIs, using computer vision models to programmatically interact with web apps. It targets industries like logistics and healthcare to automate workflows across legacy portals and authenticated sites.

  4. Awesome LLM Apps: Build awesome LLM apps with RAG, AI agents, MCP, and more to interact with data sources like GitHub, Gmail, PDFs, and YouTube videos, and automate complex work.

Hot Takes

  1. Only hope now is for Apple to buy Anthropic. Honestly, this presentation is painful to watch. ~

  2. Starting a chat with 4o and escalating to o3 has “may I speak with your manager” energy ~
    Nathan Baschez

  3. As a general answer machine, I wonder if Deep Research LLMs are better than the main methods of getting answers for most people: Googling, crowdsourcing (posting here/Reddit, etc.), asking friends

I think if you have access to an expert, that is still the way to go, otherwise... ~
